How to Find Brendan Chase

Arriving by train or bus

Windermere's rail and bus stations which are conveniently situated next to the excellent Booths supermarket are some 150 yards from Brendan Chase. As you leave the railway station turn left and walk down Victoria Road towards the town centre. At the bottom of the hill where Victoria Road meets Crescent Road and Main Road, the two principal streets of Windermere, look to the right and you will see a small chapel. Brendan Chase is just around the corner on College Road next to the chapel.

Approaching by road

Visitors approaching by road from the south should leave the M6 motorway at Junction 36 and follow the A591 to Windermere. As the town is approached there is a large junction to be seen on the left, sign-posted to the railway station and the town centre. Do not take this turn but continue on for approximately 100 yards and take the first left into Elleray Road. After passing the Greywalls public house on the right take the first right into College Road. Brendan Chase will be seen on the left hand side next to the chapel.
 
If you are travelling south from Scotland and Carlisle on the M6 motorway there are various alternative routes you can take to reach Windermere. If you would prefer a more scenic route, leave the motorway at Penrith at junction 40 and initially follow the A66 towards Keswick and Workington but then turning left to join the scenic A592 to Pooley Bridge. This route follows the entire western shoreline of Ullswater before passing through Patterdale and eventually over the spectacular Kirkstone Pass before descending the five miles to Troutbeck. At the junction with the A591 turn left and proceed for approximately half a mile before turning right into Elleray Road towards Windermere town centre and right again into College Road.
 
Alternatively if you are travelling south on the M6 motorway, leave at junction 37 and proceed carefully down into Kendal where you will see signs directing you to Windermere. Join the A591 and proceed as directed above.

By air

Manchester airport which handles an increasing number of international flights has a very convenient direct rail link to Windermere which takes just under two hours.
